Help Us Change Lives—One Dog at a Time

Volunteering with NorthWest Wag Rescue (NWW) is a meaningful way to make a direct impact on dogs in need. As a volunteer-run organization, we rely on dedicated individuals to help with everything from reviewing adoption applications and connecting with potential adopters to supporting our fosters and pups behind the scenes. Most roles are flexible and can be done on your own time, with just a few hours a week making a big difference. Whether you’re looking to get more involved in rescue or simply want to give back, we’d love to have you join our team.

Application Specialist

Help us find the right homes for our dogs by reviewing assigned adoption applications and connecting with potential adopters. You’ll interview applicants, check references (including vets and landlords if needed), and help determine the best fit for each dog.

Communication is done through email and phone calls using our dedicated volunteer number. The role is flexible and takes about 2–5 hours per week, done on your own schedule with timely follow-up.

Event Volunteer

Help us bring our dogs out into the community! Event volunteers assist with adoption events by greeting potential adopters, answering general questions, and helping things run smoothly.

This is a flexible, as-needed role—perfect if you enjoy being around people, love dogs, and want to support the rescue in a hands-on way.

Foster Home

Fosters are the heart of our rescue. By opening your home, you’re giving a dog a safe place to decompress, learn, and get ready for their forever family. Fosters provide day-to-day care, help us learn more about the dog’s personality, and keep us updated so we can find the best match. We provide support along the way—you just provide the love and a safe space.

Transport Help

Transport volunteers help make our rescues possible. This role often includes welcoming dogs at the airport and safely transferring them into the care of their trial or foster families. There may also be opportunities to help with transport to and from vet appointments or occasional out-of-state transfers. It’s a flexible, as-needed role and a great way to play a hands-on part in each dog’s journey to a better life.
